Customized LMI Training for Resource Rooms, Placement, Economic Development, and Employer Services
Labor Market Statistics(LMS) offers several types of Labor Market Information (LMI) training that can be customized to specific information, skills, and knowledge requirements. These sessions are for one to three days of hands-on training in a computer lab using case studies developed from actual placement, layoff, economic development, and employer services events. Case studies are customized to reflect local labor market and the types of information needed.
Several on-line tools are used to explore assessment (skills, interests, and work values), occupational wage data, occupational demand data, industry employment and earnings data, industry structure analysis, education provider information, and local employer data. In placement case studies, participants are taught to link job seeker skills to occupations, industries, individual employers, and job orders or training providers using O*Net, Florida CHOICES, ACINet, the Florida Research and Economic Database (FRED), and the LMS website.
In employer services training, participants are taught how to use the O*Net system to develop a human resources system for a new employer, and how to use O*Net to identify the potential supply of labor to staff a new facility. Industry/occupational employment is investigated using FRED and the LMS website to determine if sources of potential supply exist within the current labor market structure. Skills requirements of the current supply of workers is analyzed using ACINet and O*Net.
