How often are the projections updated and where are they published? (top)

The industry and occupational employment projections are updated every year in December. The projections are published on this Internet site.

What is the time horizon for LMS projections? (top)

The projections tables include estimated current employment and projected employment for eight years in the future. The most recent projections go to 2011.

Are there projections for every year or just for the target year? (top)

The projections are available only for the target year, which is currently 2011.

Do you have projections for counties or local areas? (top)

Projections are prepared for the state as a whole, the 24 Workforce Regions and for counties with at least 100,000 jobs. Projections of industry and occupational employment are prepared for the nation by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics; projections for other states are available at www.projectionscentral.com.

How are projections data used? (top)

LMS occupational employment projections are used to direct training dollars from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration toward training programs that will prepare students for occupations that will be in demand in the future. These data are also used to aid in career decision-making.
